A response from the Dying Light Twitter account immediately denied any such thing. One Twitter user responding to the announcement post expressed their worry that the game seemed like it was in development Hell. While I’m personally excited for any news regarding Dying Light 2, it seems that some others are more skeptical. Especially when it’s entirely possible that a large portion of that group leaves immediately after the update is given or made available elsewhere. I can’t exactly say that I understand what Techland is looking to get out of a large number of people joining its Discord. Usually, developers will share updates via YouTube or Twitch, instead of catering to a smaller group first. Techland’s decision to stagger this news is strange though. An hour later, whatever update Techland provides on its troubled title will be released via other venues. The Dying Light 2 developer update will arrive first on the game’s Discord server. Suffice to say, the fate of Dying Light 2 has been extremely murky since its delay. The game has remained in that state to this day, with multiple departures and a major scandal hitting developer Techland during the time since. It was then swiftly delayed indefinitely with no release window. Announced at E3 2018, the game was originally going to launch in 2020. Few games have had as rough of a development period as Dying Light 2.
